Shoalwater Bay Intertribal Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

All Advisory Committee members are welcome to attend the Intertribal Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Shoalwater Bay this October.

Events

The Advisory Committee is composed of Tribal leaders, community members, Tribal clinic staff, SPIPA staff, and Tribal and community partners from across SPIPA’s five consortium Tribes. Members are united by a shared commitment to cancer prevention, early detection, and survivor support.

Honor cancer survivors and those lost to cancer by joining in discussion about cancer prevention. Members help speak to the needs and concerns of their Tribe around cancer control, and plan policy, system, and environmental change projects that reduce cancer incidence and mortality in their communities.

Who should join:

  • Tribal Leaders
  • Community Members
  • Tribal Clinic Staff
  • Cancer Survivors
  • Tribal & Community organizations

What We do:

  • Attend quarterly meetings
  • Help plan, and implement workgroup activities that align with cancer plan objectives
  • Provide input on cancer plan development and maintenance
  • Educate the community on how to prevent cancer from occurring, ensure it is detected at the earliest stage possible and to provide support for cancer survivors
